Thanksgiving Shabbat

On the evening after Thanksgiving, we gather for a Magdalene Shabbat — a sacred pause to enter rest, remembrance, and gratitude.

This Shabbat is a living prayer in the Magdalene way: 

• We light the candles for Shekinah’s blessing, 
• We drink from the cup of spiritual sustenance
• We eat the bread of life as we choose to stop, breathe, and honor the sacred

As we cross this threshold, we also begin the sacred season of Advent. A time of preparation, and turning toward the Light that is always being born within us

This year, as we gather for Thanksgiving Shabbat, we do so in a time when many hearts are heavy. Our world feels uncertain, divided, and restless. People are searching for meaning, direction, and belonging

In Magdalene Shabbat, we create a sanctuary — a pause from the noise and chaos — where we remember what is eternal

Through candlelight, chant, blessing, prayer, and reflection, we honor the Presence of Shekinah and open to the holy season of Advent

Here, gratitude becomes more than a holiday ritual; it becomes a spiritual practice that steadies the heart

As Advent begins, we choose to prepare ourselves for the Light that is always arriving, even in the darkest of times

Come and rest in this circle of love, where we hold hope together and remember that peace begins within us
